Metal Manufacturing Services & Capabilities Handbook

Written by McHone Industries, Inc. | Mar 13, 2018 4:06:17 PM

Nobody truly goes on a “blind date” anymore. Even with online matchmaking these days, you have the chance to sniff out every little detail of that person’s life before agreeing to anything. Likewise, you shouldn’t work with a metal manufacturing partner without learning all it can do for you.

For example, engineers and buyers see McHone’s reputation as that of a tube bender/fabricator/producer. That’s great, but we’re also passionate about helping you solve issues with design, testing, finishing, assembly, and more. We’ve actually got all your manufacturing processes covered, from start to finish.

Here’s an idea of what else you’ll find inside our walls -- and in this new Metal Manufacturing Services & Capabilities Handbook:

  1. Prototyping
  2. Tooling Production
  3. Laser Cutting
  4. Metal Stamping
  5. Robotic & Hand Welding
  6. Sheet Metal Fabrication
  7. Roll Forming
  8. Plate Rolling
  9. Powder Coating
  10. Bead Blasting
  11. Inventory Management
  12. Value Engineering
  13. All-in-One Manufacturing

What’s in Our Metal Manufacturing Services Book (Besides Tube Stuff)?

1. Rapid Metal Prototyping

Feeling a tangible part in your hands is always preferable to viewing a computer model. With quick prototyping, any issues will be identified early in the design cycle. That’s why we offer:

  • Testing
  • Evaluation
  • Feedback
  • Further refinement

You can also learn more here.

2. Tooling Production

We provide in-house tooling for up to 60% of our clients. We have a full line of tooling capabilities optimized for quick turnaround time and economical pricing.

You can also learn more here.

3. Laser Cutting

Laser cutting will get you places more quickly. One of McHone’s signature services, cutting sheet metal can become more precise and cost-effective for you.

Our newest machine takes both these qualities to another level.

4. Metal Stamping

No waiting in line for you. We have 15 punch presses on hand.

See the guide for more on the specs and abilities of these machines (and our expert in-house tool makers).

5. Robotic & Hand Welding

Which is more efficient for your project and your bottom line? We’ll help you determine that.

If you choose robotic welding, know you’re getting tight tolerances at a fair cost (since you don’t have to help pay the robots’ salary). Technology sure is great, eh?

6. Sheet Metal Fabrication

We can also work from sheet metal instead of tubing. If you need an enclosure or other complete product, we can assist you.

Our handbook explains maximum bends and thicknesses in detail.

7. Roll Forming

You can select from pre-existing shapes and gauges -- a lot of them, actually.

If you’ve got something else in mind, we can provide custom shapes and hole patterns. Our limitations are few in this category!

8. Plate Rolling

If your project is commercial, industrial, or otherwise high-volume, take a look at our services for:

  • Sheet metal bending
  • Roll bending
  • Ring rolling

You can choose from one several forming types.

9. Powder Coating

Powder coating beats painting in three major ways:

  • Cost efficiency
  • Wear resistance
  • Good looks

Your components can go through our 750-ft. line with speed and minimal wasted material.

You can also learn more here.

10. Bead Blasting

Both glass beads and sheet shot are available for this finishing process. We can help you determine which abrasive method is ideal for your application.

The beads are reusable, so this is a pretty cost-effective service.

11. Inventory Management

Partnering on inventory management and consignment programs can reduce:

  • Storage costs
  • Risk of damage or loss
  • Poor turnover rate

Ask today about the importance of expert forecasting, buffer stock to meet increased demand, and proven inventory management styles.

12. Value Engineering

We’ll teach you about value engineering and what you may be missing out on -- potentially thousands of dollars in savings.

Value engineering is the examination of every avenue possible to lower your costs without hurting your product’s life cycle or overall quality. Basically, we may know something about certain services you don’t in terms of how your design will be impacted.

So have us take a look at your part -- what’s the harm?

13. All-In-One Manufacturing

Much like our value engineering services, our full-service philosophy is aimed at consolidating your lead time and costs. From the design stage to storing your inventory, we can help you perfect the process.

Remember, if you want something done we’re not currently capable of, we’ll buy the equipment necessary to get the job done. We love to customize, invent, and expand on what you’re already doing.

A Single-Vendor Relationship

ICYMI, partnering with a vendor with numerous capabilities helps you slash costs at every turn. Too much downtime while playing musical chairs with your components isn’t efficient. And wasted time = wasted money.

Instead we can use that time to prevent time- and money-wasting redesigns by prototyping your product. Or optimizing your metal finishing choice. Or anything else you can think of.
